ANTI-FASCISM

1308: Borlänge is the scene for large scale fighting between nazi skinheads and gangs of immigrant youth. The fighting began when immigrants went to attack against a nazi apartment and a nazi girl was injured. Later, a 24 year old nazi was seriously cut in the face. Two youths, 22 and 25, were arrested in connection with the attacks.

0209: A Finnish nazi is stabbed in the back by a youth gang shortly after arriving in Stockholm. He was visiting with a group of "comrades." We say: Welcome to Sweden!

1809: An anti-racist demonstration with 400 participants is held in the Stockholm suburb of Haninge. The area has a large nazi contingent which regularly attacks immigrant youths in the nearby area of Brandbergen. During the course of the demonstration, which had been threatened by nazis, Haninge police attacked the parade removing 10 individuals who were identified and then released, but prevented from rejoing the demonstration. This incident of missused police authority has been reported to the Justice Ministry by the arrangers of the demonstration as well as Syndikalistiska Ungdomsförbundet, SUF-Stockholm (Syndicalist Youth Association in Stockholm).

3109: Three nazis are charged with assault in connection with this Springs' attacks upon the Labadi family in Vårberg. The father, Hassan Labadi, is also accussed of assault.

0410: Three nazis, 18, 17 and 16 years old, are arrested for arson of an immigrant owned boutique in Halmstad. They are later all sentenced to protective custody and the 18 year old received an additional 2 months prison.

0510: A nazi was arrested inside the Jewish School in Stockholm after vandalizing the premises.

0610: Four nazis, 3 men in their 20's and one 18 year old female from Örbyhus, are arrested for attacks upon 11 immigrant famalies in the Tierp area between the 9th and 15th of September.

0710: An anti-racist demonstration in Stockholms workers quarter, Södermalm, attracted 400 participants from various walks of life. The demonstration was directed towards the nazi bunker in Stockholm, Fryshuset, which lies on the island of Södermalm, as well as the nearby nazi botique, Asgård. The demonstration was preceeded by 3 seperate open air meetings the 3 preceeding weekends. All events proceeded as planned with only limited fascist activities reported in the vicinities.

1910: Hasan Labadi is charged with assault and receives fines while the 3 nazis are freed from assault but found guilty of lesser crimes in this somewhat hushed trial in Vårberg.

2410: Another eleven nazis in their 20's are charged in Örbyhus with the attacks upon 11 immigrant famalies in the Tierp area.

2610: The Justice Minister, Laila Freivalds, has stated that harder methods must be used by authorities to decrease the rising racist violence in society!

2710: Two nazis, one 16 years old, have been arrested for the murder of an immigrant in Klippan.

November is, as a tradition, a month of fascist manifestation and anti-fascist action in Sweden. Nazi manifestations have been limited and many of their key figures have come under the medias spotlight. This is mainly due to increased state repression which is a direct response to the 8 nazi inflicted deaths in Sweden over the course of the past year as well as the publics "heightened" awareness of these violent trends. Even if certain paroles of anti-fascists have been attained this November, they were acheived by the state, not by the anti-fascists themselves.

0611: Twenty Sverigedemokraterna (The Sweden Democrats) attempted to demonstrate in Sundsvall. 200 anti-racists made their dislike known and police were only just able to save the fascists from a well deserved fate.

0611: Three nazis were sentenced for arson of an immigrant boutique in Halmstad. An 18 year old received 2 months prison and two youths received two months protective custody.

0811: Two members ofVAM, Vitt Ariskt Motstånd (WAR, White Aryan Resistance) are tried for a bank robbery this summer (27th of July). The third accused robber is a member of the Hells Angels hang around club, MC Sweden.

0911: Three hundred demonstraters participated in a memorial manifestation in central Stockholm of "The Crystal Night" and its Jewish victims in Nazi Germany. Similar manifestations were held in Göteborg and Lund.

1111: Fignting between youth gangs and nazi skinheads occured in the Stockholm suburb of Tyresö.

1911: Members of AntiFascist Aktion-Stockholm distributed flyers at the Stockholm Film Festivals' premier of the film "Land and Freedom."

2311: Twenty different orgaisations and 500 participants participated in a manifestation against racism in central Stockholm.

2411: An anti-fascist manifestation in Göteborg protesting the next days planned nazi concert draws 2 000 supporters from a wide variety of leftist groups. Syndicalists and anarchists were instrumental in this initiative.

2511: In Göteborg, a planned nazi manifestation and concert with 2 Swedish, one German and one Polish nazi bands brought 600 police into activity at a cost of 2 million SEK. The police concentrated the main part of their activity against the 400 nazi demonstraters. Of this 400; 200 were German, another 100 were Dutch and Norweigian and the last 100 were Swedish. The reduced Swedish contingent, as well as the police reaction, were in large part due to an intense media campaign that has taken Göteborg by storm during the past month. Links between leading police officials and leading nazis have been successfully leaked to the press and the individuals have been exposed. This has lead to internal conflicts amongst the previously quite united Göteborg/West Swedish nazi movement. The investigative media campaign has been limited by the national media to the Göteborg area, but was successful in forcing the police to show their "resolve" in the face of harsh critique and "clean-up" their soiled image; "We are not all nazis!" A law from 1948, outlawing the "bearing of political uniforms," was revived so as police could arrest nazis with swastikas, AWB (777) symbols and sun crosses. Nazi demonstraters were also arrested with the help of the law against "threatening folk groups" which enabled the police to arrest those who shouted nazi slogans. This resulted in at least two quite brutal shock waves of riot police into the ranks of the nazi manifestation resulting in 24 arrests-mostly Germans. German nazis must have been quite suprised with such treatment after the extreme leanancy they have been accustomed to meeting in Göteborg. With any luck, they won't comeback! The police also took the opportunity to inform the owner of the proposed concert hall just exactly who it was who had hired the venue. The owner promptly anulled the contract and refused the nazis entrance. In the past police have always not only protected the concert venue, but forced the owner to comply with the contract (often made under false premises) in the name of "maintaining public order." The disappointed nazis were then sent home with police escort utterly humilated. The Germans were herded up and placed under guard in the central train stations waiting room. Under the course of the night, anti-fascists threw stones through all the windows at the locked in nazis. The outside temperatures of below zero made the rest of their night quite cold and uncomfortable! AntiFascistisk Aktion had plans to disrupt the nazi manifestation, but the unforseen harsh police handling of the nazis made this unnecessary. Nevertheless, smaller skirmishes between anti-fascists and police occurred resulting in 13 anti-fascists being arrested. A hired buss removing nazis from the area had its windows smashed by anti-fascists. A well functioning AFA surveillance team did enable a smaller group of AFA activists to later that evening intercept and completely destroy the Polish nazi bands mini-van and all of its contents. In addition, one apartment to a well known Göteborg nazi was visited during the wee hours of the night resulting in spray painted slogans revealing its inhabitants sympathies.

2711: Youth Minister, Marita Ulvskog, has stated her support to changes in the law which would increase the sentences of people accussed of commiting crimes with racist or nazi motives. She made these statements at a country-wide confrence for anti-racist youth groups (133) in Sundsvall.

2911: The "board of directors" to the nazi Fryshuset have been reported to the police for breaking the "political uniforms" law. The nazis let publish a picture of themselves with Odal Rune patches sewn on their "bomber" jackets.

2911: Laila Freivalds, the Justice Minister wants to end all state support for nazi activities at Fryshuset.

3011: On this day in past years an almost all out battle between nazis and their opponents has occured. This year the event was almost unnoticed on the streets. The media, however, was still there! Stockholm: In the early evening, an anti-racist manifestation was held in central Stockholm with 500 participants. This manifestation had not been given permission to demonstrate at a centrally located square, but instead was given another square a little off sides. The manifestation was held, page 4

despite the police decree, at the originally planned square and was held without incident. After this manifestation, approximatly 150 youths (mostly immigrants) wandered the city streets on a vain search for nazis to confront. They meet only with police intimidation and harrasment. Two youths were arrested for bearing knives. Later that evening, approximtley 100 anarchist/autonome activists of AntiFasctisk Aktion stood watch outside of an anti-racist punk concert on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm. Police limited their harrasment of this group to surveillance and instead put all of their resouces (the better part of a force of 500) into guarding Fryshuset and an ongoing nazi concert with 200 spectators. And the evening ended with these two sub-cultural concerts... Lund: A small group of older fascists attempted to lay a wreath upon the tomb of their "warior king," Karl XII. The tomb was encircled by anti-fascists who took the opportunity to "liberate" the wreath and destroy it. The rest of the city was engaged in "a festival of light" and took the opportunity to Christmas consume while stores were open late...

0912: A 27 year old nazi in Umeå was arreested and relieved of his ensignia covered "bomber jacket" in accordance to the political uniforms law. Another nazi in Södertälje suffered the same fate.

1412: A demonstration is held in the upper class (and nazi) Stockholm suburb of Ekerö. Local youths and left groups numbering 200 marched upon a nizi infested youth centre; Ekerö is known for having at least one fascist seat (Sverigedemokraterna) in the local kommun goverment. The demonstration was a success, but a planned anti-racist concert after the event was cancelled by the local politicians. A few nazi observers in the area were dealt with in the appropriate manner.

1512: The Stockholm City council have decided to move the location of the debated Fryshuset. The nazis over 20 years of age (the "board of directors," etc.) will not be allowed to follow in the move. Only younger "skinheads" with no political activities will be allowed. The "responsibility" for the older nazis is no to be taken over by the social services. They are currently searching for a new location in the Stockholm area...
